Opensidian 0.9.2 is out
Opensidian 0.9.2 is out: download it here, and
verify your download against the signed SHA256SUMS.
This release is about community plugins: Templater, Tasks, Dataview, Excalidraw and Obsidian Git were each taken through their own workflows, and every difference from stock Obsidian we found was fixed.
Runs on older distros again
The 0.9.2 binaries need glibc 2.39 or newer, so they run on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS and later
and on Debian 13 again (the DEB depends on libc6 >= 2.39).
Faster typing
- Each keystroke does less work: no extra layout reads or title rebuilds, and the window title ("note - vault - Opensidian") is only updated when it changes (#30).
Plugins behave as in stock
- Templater: startup templates that write files see them at once and fire "create".
<% %>commands are highlighted in the theme colours and stay literal in Live Preview.tp.file.include("[[Note#^id]]")inserts that block, andtp.frontmatterreads nested and flow maps. A plugin's follow-up edit undoes together with the edit before it. Settings sub-pages, list rows, input suggestions, warnings and group headings look and behave as in stock. - Tasks: done tasks are struck through in Live Preview, custom statuses show as tasks,
numbered tasks keep their number, and a task inside a quote gets no checkbox.
%%comments%%are dropped from rendered markdown, long query errors wrap, and an invaliddata.jsonfalls back to the defaults. - Dataview: frontmatter YAML handles nested maps, flow and block scalars, anchors and tags; invalid YAML gives no frontmatter. Rows that tie come out in stock's order, and "Rebuild current view" re-runs Live Preview code blocks.
- Excalidraw: "Create new drawing in the current window" over a note keeps one tab. Toolbars, dropdown buttons, checked menu items, the file suggester and Frame Settings look and work as in stock.
- Obsidian Git: the line author gutter paints, the conflict list opens, and commit-and-sync followed by close closes the window.
- Every plugin: saving over a hand-edited
data.jsonwith a typo keeps the old file asdata.json.invalidinstead of overwriting it. Files a plugin removes or renames leave or move in the vault at once. A view a plugin opens over a note saves the note's unsaved edits first; if that fails, or the note is pinned, the view opens next to the note.
Also new
- A Settings gear next to the vault switcher (#29).
- Graph group colour swatches are round and stock-sized, and a colour edit reaches the graph straight away (#28).
Fixed
- A folder made unreadable from outside the app no longer counts as deleted, so its notes' tabs stay open.
- A note created in the app and deleted outside it before the next scan disappears from the vault.
- A query typed into the quick switcher while a note is still loading stays in the switcher.
- Renaming a note also rewrites
[[Old.md]]links, and in the graph[[Alpha.md]]resolves to the note Alpha. - Frontmatter with doubled aliases, deep nesting or long multi-line values no longer takes exponential or quadratic time.
- A plugin-built
[[#Heading]]link in reading view opens the heading.
